What is The Black Country?

The Black Country is an area of the United Kingdom – in England, in the West Midlands. It is said to have got it’s name due to it’s industrial heritage with thick black smoke a regular feature in the air. Another idea is that it’s because of the rich coal seam which lies beneath the land.
