Welcome to The Black Country

There is much interest now in the area we all know and love as "The Black Country" with researchers delving into their family history and from people wanting to find out more about the history of their local area. There is also a keen need for people to know a bit about what is happening in the region right now and what's going to happen in the future.

What's this website all about then?

Rowley Regis Online was launched back in 2002 and since then I've found that there is an ever increasing number of people searching the Internet for all things "Black Country" for a variety of reasons. I've also found that quite a few folk share my frustrations as to not being able to find all the really useful content such as stories, photos, articles etc. that already exist - that's what I'm hoping to go some way to solving with this website.

The idea with The Black Country.Net is to is to have a place which joins up the vast array of websites that containa wealth of information about this area of the country - creating what you could term "The Virtual Black Country".

The site is in its infancy at the moment, I hope to add more features in the coming months so if anyone has any ideas or feeback please let me know via email - matthew@theblackcountry.net.

I think the Search The Black Country facility could prove really useful, it allows you to search a pre-defined selection of websites with a Black Country connection, using the most popular search engine around at the moment - Google.

Places to Visit - Clickable Maps!

A new feature on The Black County.Net is a map of Places to Visit, this has been created using a Google Map, all you have to do is click a marker on the map to find a location which gives further information ina weblink. You can zoom in, pan around the map and even view satellite imagery of the locations.
